About cheapest travel option from Portland, OR to LA

Cheapest travel option from Portland, OR to LA?
Flights look like they're about $300 round trip. I don't mind a one-way option, either. Thanks in advance!

Is there any chance to get blocked by snow, closed roads or awful weather conditions? Which route might be appropiate for this purpose?

Answer 1 :
no a good idea
Answer 2 :
I really wouldn't advise it, but if it's necessary, keep a look out for the weather and plan your trip around it.
Answer 3 :
You take I-5 from Oregon to California. Yes, there is a good chance you could encounter snow on the pass. On New Year's about three years ago people were actually stuck up there for a day or two. Not that that's normal--that was a freak storm that rolled in really fast and people got trapped. But snow and the problems that accompany it are real concerns in the passes in January. You are required under Oregon law to carry chains or have traction tires when/where posted. I think you have to carry chains in the Siskiyou pass all winter.
Answer 4 :
If you are doing that you are crazy you should take a plane if you drive its six hours of HELLLLLLLLLL ............... in the cold

About what is the best (affordable) restaurant in Portland Maine

What is the best (affordable) restaurant in Portland Maine?
I am taking my boyfriend out for his birthday in Portland. Traveling for business he eats out very well and often, so I want it to be fun. I am kidnapping him for the night and would like someplace special to take him. He loves oysters and steak and seafood.

Sorry if this answer is coming too late... but DiMillos Floating Restaurant in by far the most well known seafood place in Portland. It is on a big boat that is docked in the harbor. The food isn't outstanding but it does have some pretty good seafood and the prices are very reasonable. Street and Company on Wharf Street is more pricy... but worth it. It is one of the finer places to eat in Portland and it has seafood. If he likes Sushi then Saporro on the waterfront is very good and Fujis is a place where they cook at the table. Another good American place is Bintliffs Cafe... its quaint and unique with great food.

Answered at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhsnbDO76reKXa0zGOMat6Jd7hR.;_ylv=3?qid=20090529140007AAlxKLE Which Orange County do you mean? If California, the Amtrak schedule below says train 763 leaves Anaheim every day at 8:06 am, transfer in Los Angeles to the Coast Starlight with a 1 hour 20 minute connection time. It leaves 10:15 am and arrives in Portland at 3:40 pm the next day (midnight is near Sacramento) for a total trip of 32 hours, 34 minutes. There is no competition by other trains. Greyhound, auto, and airlines are the other choices. From Orange County, Florida, there is a routing through Tallahassee, then a line to Los Angeles. For Orange County, New York, Poughkeepsie has a station connecting to New York City, then take the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago, and the Empire Builder to Portland. For Orange County, Texas: From Beaumont Texas, take the Sunset Limited to Los Angeles.

If you're talking about the fog signal character, some sources say it's a 13.5-13.6 second blast every 30 seconds and it has a range of 3 miles. According to the Trinity House web site, it's only a 3.5 second blast every 30 seconds
