Answer 1 :
Not without going through international waters and the Panama Canal, no. You could travel part of the way there on the Intercoastal Waterway but not the entire journey.
Answer 2 :
No, the intracoastals are only along the coasts. There's no connection in North America from one coast to the other, Here's a master link :http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geusJuXGZLpicAT5tXNyoA?fr2=sg-gac&sado=1&p=intracoastal%20waterway&pqstr=intracoastal%20water%20ways&gprid=nPxTyVpUQiKtpEO9XqK8tA&sac=2&sao=3

About what's the best way to travel with two cats from Minneapolis, MN, to Portland, OR without a car

What's the best way to travel with two cats from Minneapolis, MN, to Portland, OR without a car?
I don't have a car and am considering moving to Portland from Minneapolis. I would prefer to NOT have to rent and drive a U-Haul and would prefer NOT to fly, but it's looking like those might be the only options, since Amtrak and Greyhound don't allow animals. Any advice on how to do this cheaply and efficiently?

Answer 1 :
The best way I know of is in cat carriers, and to see if their vet would reccomend a tranquilizer so they dont panic during the trip. I have only done short trips with my felines and they didnt do so good so I wish you the best of luck if you move. As to doing it cheaply I dont have a clue but One aireline I would reccomend checking is SunCoast, I think they will work with you if you have animals but I could be wrong. All I know of is they treated us wonderfully on our last trip with them.
Answer 2 :
Considering the amount of rental applications I get from residents of the Twin Cities, I would say it's a safe bet that your city's craigslist has a fairly healthy rideshare section. That would be the cheapest option. If it were me, I'd rent a car one-way. It's actually cheaper than you think if you call all of the rental car companies in your area (and NOT just the ones based at the airport) to get the best price. Then, search on google for coupon codes to use at the rental car company's website. Or find someone with an AAA or Costco card to give up their promo code. Finally, after you've found the cheapest price, call the front desk of the rental car company and tell them that another rental car company quoted you "X" dollars, but you'd prefer not to use them because of their track record, and could you please give me the same deal for "X-$50?" This actually works more than you think.

Anyone travel from Portland to Crater Lake?
I'm going this weekend and wanted to see if there were any cool stops to make along the way?

Answer 1 :
No, but I've traveled the other way - from Crater Lake to Portland. Don't remember any interesting stops. Best bet is to consult a guidebook [printed or on line] to see what may in the area that you'd like to do.
Answer 2 :
Depending on the crowd I'm with, a few of these stops are chosen: * Woodburn factory outlet stores * Eugene farmers market (Saturday mornings) or some of the fine restaurants downtown * Cottage Grove's Village Green Resort * Wildlife Safari drive through zoo near Winston
